Brush & Being | The Art of Miniature
An Afternoon Exploring the Art of Miniature Painting
Toronto, Canada | November 16, 2025
The Canadian Friends of Sufi Arts, Culture and Knowledge (CFSACK) hosted an intimate, sold-out fundraising event at the historic University Club of Toronto, bringing together supporters, artists, and friends for an afternoon celebrating the rich traditions of Persian and South Asian miniature painting. Led by Pakistani-Canadian multidisciplinary artist Tazeen Qayyum, guests explored the history, techniques, and aesthetics of this intricate art form through a hands-on workshop.
Throughout the afternoon, participants worked with traditional materials and techniques to create their own miniature-inspired compositions, gaining a deeper appreciation for the artistry, patience, and precision behind this centuries-old practice. The workshop offered an engaging setting for artistic exploration, conversation, and cultural exchange, complemented by live music, a reception, and refreshments.
The event also featured a silent auction of original artworks, with proceeds supporting CFSACK’s charitable mission to advance public engagement with Sufi arts, culture, and scholarship. Guests had the opportunity to learn more about CFSACK’s educational initiatives, research awards, and ongoing partnership with the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO™ (MACS MTO) in France.
Held in recognition of UNESCO’s International Day of Islamic Art, Brush & Being reflected CFSACK’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for cultural learning and artistic engagement. We extend our sincere thanks to Tazeen Qayyum, our generous donors, volunteers, partners, and all those who joined us in making this memorable afternoon possible.
