An Afternoon to Support and Engage with Sufi Arts, Culture and Knowledge
Join us for an elegant and inspiring afternoon at Hycroft Manor in celebration of Omar Khayyam Day and in recognition of International Museum Day. Facilitated by Poetry is Play founder and poet Nirvona Soraya-Galo, this fundraiser and interactive workshop weaves insights from Sufi allegories, stories, and poems by luminaries such as the 11th-century Persian polymath Omar Khayyam and his Rubaiyat and the 13th-century Sufi poet Rumi and his Masnawi. Attendees will engage in creative exercises culminating in original poetry—while enjoying sandwiches, tea, refreshments, and meaningful dialogue in Hycroft Manor’s historic setting.
What is Poetry is Play?
Poetry is Play emerged from the founder, Nirvona Soraya-Galo's, personal joy forged from connection through poetry and her desire to share it. This workshop is an interactive experience that utilizes writing prompts to encourage imagination and self-expression. Poetry is Play is intended to create a space for personal reflection while fostering collaboration with other participants. This workshop is tailored to accommodate a wide range of skill levels, offering individuals the opportunity to find wonderment, craft together, and explore the kismet nature of our individual and shared experiences.
Supporting CFSACK
The Canadian Friends of Sufi Arts, Culture, and Knowledge (CFSACK) is a federal not-for-profit and CRA-designated charity committed to broadening public appreciation of Sufi history, art, and culture. Your attendance directly supports:
Scholarships & Research Awards: Fostering academic work on Sufi arts and culture.
Public Workshops & Cultural Showcases: Creating immersive experiences that illuminate Sufi traditions.
Community Engagement: Partnering with institutions like the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO™ (MACS MTO) to make Sufi heritage accessible to all.
Your participation supports CFSACK’s mission to broaden public knowledge and appreciation of Sufi arts, culture, and knowledge. Proceeds from this fundraiser help fund educational programs, scholarships, and collaborative projects with institutions like the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO™ (MACS MTO)—the world’s first museum dedicated to Sufi art and cultural practices. By aligning our event with International Museum Day, we hope to underscore cultural institutions' role in shaping resilient, inclusive communities—just as Sufi poetry has done for centuries.
